Ethical considerations of vaccine hesitancy and refusal in clinical practice – in the era of COVID-19

Addressing vaccine hesitancy raises ethical questions in healthcare; reluctance and refusal are not necessarily due to being ill-informed or uneducated, sensitivity to the many complex reasons for this phenomenon is required
You will learn to:
• Consider the ethical implications of vaccine hesitancy
• Interpret and manage parental hesitancy in terms of recognising the best interests of the child, while respecting the ethical, moral and/or religious views of parents
• Consider the ethical principles of the introduction of a vaccine against COVID-19
• Understand and develop trust between the healthcare professional and parents who are vaccine hesitant.
