The ethical principles of a doctor is to be fair, honest, trustworthy, loyal and careful.
You will learn:
• The ethical principle that maintaining a patient’s privacy and not needlessly sharing their personal information is central to their best interests
• The pertinent South African laws that must be considered before divulging a patient’s information
• The principles of the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) applicable to the security, privacy and record management of a patient’s personal information
• Fulfilling the requirements of the POPIA in the practice of healthcare.
